I didn't want to make a seperate thread for each language in the Asian Discussion forum so I made a thread here combining all 3. (hopefully the mods won't get angry) I saw a "Learning Vietnamese" thread in the Vietnamese Chat but there wasn't that much learning going on =/.. So the rules are NO PROFANITY (curse words, rude/perverted comments ect.) I'll start out by listing some simple Vietnamese terminologies -cool xinh chao = hi tam biet = good bye xinh loi = sorry cam ong = thank you khong co chi = you're welcome (or no problem) nguoi = people dep trai = handsome dep gai = pretty de thuong = cute Question: How do you say "no, thanks" in Mandarin?? Like if you go to Chinatown and a woman approaches you with fliers to a certain restaurant or offers you to buy something, what's a polite way to respond? What if someone is bothering you and you want to tell them to "go away"? How would you say that? Thanks!
its pretty hard to rite chinese with abc's..cause its orginally characters and when u read when ppl read it they mite b sayign it rong wondergirll... nau pho cho anh =)
no, thanks - bu yao, xie, xie go away - zou cai ni hao = hi zai jian = good bye dui bu qi = sorry xie xie = thank you bu ke qi = you're welcome (or no problem) ren = people shuai ge = handsome guy mei nu = pretty girl ke ai = cute
no thanks = bu yong, xie xie go away = zou kai .. haha not too different from what peachey said. hahahha SHUAI GE! love that. =]
bf= lay yao mo lam pun yao? gf= lay yao mo lui pun yao? righ?? thas about as far as my cantonese pingyum goes..-lol
wow...so technically correct....bf is jai and gf is lui...but ur right to use that as well...i guess i dun speak correct canto nemore
i think calling bf 'jai' and gf 'lui' is kinda weird... like "wai, lei tiu lui leh?" (hey, where's your gf?) i think it just makes everything sound........... iono lower class?
Thanks for helping me with the translations guys!! I'm looking for the english title of this famous chinese song that I really like. I was hoping someone here might be familiar with it and could help. I only know part of the lyrics which goes something like: (pinyins are not exactly accurate) Ni wen wo ai, ni yo tuo shen Wo ai ni you gi fun Ching ching de yi ke wen Yi ching ta tung wo de shi Does is sound familiar to anyone?? :( I know it's really famous because I hear it a lot in Chinese movies, but I don't know what it's called.
The song is called "Yueliang Daibiao Wo De Xin". It's one of China's most famous love songs. Also one of my favorites. Go here: http://www.sinosplice.com/music/yueliang/
wow i've heard that song for as long as i can remember... brings back memories of old vinyl records playing, my little cousin singing the song at every single family gathering (she was 4 and didnt understand a word she was singing), the first time i heard the David Tao version and fell in love,... the English title is "The Moon Represents My Heart"
Ahh so that's what it's called! Thanks for filing me in Do you guys know the name of the original artist who sang this song?
