this was made into a movie a long time ago with Jet Li as the star and i think there have been almost 10 different versions of this as a series edit: just checked and it is actually only 8 tv series

Story is pretty similar to Jet Li's Kung Fu Cult Master 1993 ; with a little differences here and there. I hope they will have a part 2, unlike Jet Li's version that left viewers hanging.

It is from the same director that made Kung fu cult master 1993. The reason why there wasn't a part 2 was due to the fact that the story was changed and the box office was super low. Part 2 didn't make it to the drawing board and pretty much the end of it. After almost 29 years from that, Wong Jing was finally able to remake kung fu cult master in its entirety with part 1 and part 2. No doubt it's a lot different from the series (at least from the one I watched New Heavenly Sword and Dragon Sabre 1996). To fit 40 episodes series into 4 hours movie is no easy task - so, I ignored their weird curly hairstyles on the actors in this movie and I enjoyed the movie. But then, the disclaimer is, I'm a sucker for wuxia / kung fu series / movies. I may just go back and start watching the 40 episodes again. Hehe ...
