What's interesting about all this is the historic corollary to the 1918 virus, which lasted about 2 years and came in 4 waves. If all else follows, then all of this should start to wane mid 2022. In the meanwhile, I'm still wearing my mask and getting my boosters. In fact, I'm probably going to wear my mask well into 2023. It's gotten so routine with me it's like putting on socks; I don't even think about it any more.
Interesting to see how the current vaccines hold up to them. My mom already got her 3rd shot. ralphrepo You know how the Asian countries always put on mask like precovid when they go out on the street when they want to go "anonymous"? But if you did it in elsewhere you'll be looked at weird. I kinda enjoy going out to the store with a mask. Feels like I can avoid everyone and don't have to put on fake expression.
CDC confirms first case of Omicron COVID-19 variant in U.S. https://www.cbsnews.com/news/omicron-variant-covid-19-first-united-states-cases/ " The traveler was fully vaccinated and is experiencing "mild symptoms that are improving" and has been self-quarantining since testing positive, the CDC said in a statement " CDC's terminology of fully vaccinated. 2 weeks after their second dose in a 2-dose series, such as the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, or 2 weeks after a single-dose vaccine, such as Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated.html U.S. Travel: Biden Reportedly Considering Quarantine, Pre-Testing And Fines https://www.forbes.com/sites/alexle...considering-quarantine-pre-testing-and-fines/ Point #1: With so much testing I wonder how are they determining the variant considering according to one of the sources listed above, they have to "sequencing the vast majority of positive tests collected". Sounds like a lot of additional work considering CA reported 5,137 new positive cases yesterday. Point #2: American will need to be quarantine after travel. However, the administration are busing / flying illegals from the southern border to the heartland. According to Fauci (I represent Science), "that's a different issue". How does this science thing really work?
Omicron more infectious, less severity: A team of researchers at Hong Kong University’s faculty of medicine found omicron replicates 70 times faster in human airways, but infection in the lungs appears less severe. I wonder if they'll ever change the definition of "fully vaccinated" with them administering booster shots. I definitely don't agree with them changing it to 3 shots, 4 shots, etc.. Although I do agree with it being 2 shots. But let's say a restaurant requires you to have a 3rd shot to enter, that's cool with me. But in terms of "government restrictions", I think it should remain at 2.
To answer your question, "Fauci says a redefinition of fully vaccinated is on the table" (CNBC Squawk Box December 17, 2021.) The company I work for (for now) has changed their "policies" in defining "fully vaccinated" to as per recommendation by CDC or some verbiage along that line. CDC has changed the definition of vaccines, why not the definition of fully vaccinated? Nothing is beyond them when they are trying to booster children under 5.
