With all the hype, I figure I'll bite even if it's Mando. IMHO, it's just meh! Wait for the Canto version as most of Stephen Chow's joke/skids truly is better when it's native Canto. With that said, his stuff(style) is getting kind of repetitive and old. Guess my expectation were way too high for this flick.
I agree this movie is overhyped. There are comical moments but given the enormous box office taking in China, the movie doesn't deliver in contents. Maybe the mainlanders have a different sense of humour. Hopefully the Cantonese version might deliver the jokes missing from the Mandarin version.
It is a so so movie and if Stephen Chow were to act in this movie, I am sure it will add some light into it. I still like to see him acting. Maybe the mermaid is meant more for China market, that is why he is not in it. Or maybe he thinks he is too old.
