Where is the most beautiful place you've ever been to ? Mine is the yellowstone national park in the US. Some parts of the park were creepy because of the fire, the trees were all burnt but some others were really special with waterfalls, springs and geysers.
You have to go Maui for the sunrise. It's one of my favourite places. I went there to propose to my gf but its really good. You drive up a massive cliff so if you have played initial D its like irohazaka, tones of hairpins to the top. But once on the top your above the clouds so its really nice
Yellowstone is pretty. Was there last summer. Did a hike up to Hidden Falls at Grand Teton area. The view was awesome; so much that I find Old Faithful to be over-rated. A city / nature place I like as well is San Francisco. There's a bicycle route (I guess you can walk; I just bike up) from Fisherman's Wharf towards Golden Gate - the view is pretty great as well in parts of the route (at least 5 or 6 years ago, it was). I don't hate Grand Canyon. Nor love it. It's just okay for me. Felt very small compared to the majestic Canyon; all the while thinking I'm definitely a dead man if I slip and fall. That probably took the fun out for me! But my next destination will hopefully be Yosemite!
Sure I will let Hawai in my head if it isn't for this summer ! How you describe it really make people to want to go there Really feel the same about Yellowstone. When I went to SF the trip was short so maybe a good idea. I haven't been to Grand Canyon because it don't attract me. I listened a lot about Yosemite and have seen so many pics it seems really nice.
I'm a sucker for ancient architecture so the places i've been to Xi'An - terracota army, Hua Mountain...breathtaking
I met an elderly couple when I was at Yellowstone - they were on multi-state RV road trip. The disclaimer is that they are from California. Anyway, they couldn't stop promoting Yosemite. They said, better go see Yosemite before the drought kill it all ...
I've never been to mainland. I'm sure the terracota army must be amazing to see. I'm just a little afraid by this country and its (no) rules. Are there any ohter interesting places near Xi'An so we can make something like a road trip ? Too bad so many places can be erase by drought or fire. I didn't feel at ease in Yellowstone when we were crossing the burnt trees.
for Mainland, I've only been to Xi'An and just outside Xi'An...I went about 3 years ago, I toured the Terracota Army site, Lady Yang's bathhouse (still intact, very great shape), Tang Sam Zhang (Journey to the West Monk)'s pagoda (also very intact), Wu Ze Tian's tomb, and a couple of Han Dynasty emperor tombs...all were freakin' amazing. I mean I have a potty mouth, and most of what I said would probably get me killed if I were alone in China, so my only advice, is just be careful of what you say. If you're staying just for a few days, that should be fine.
Thanks for the advice , it won't be difficult to watch my mouth I don't speak mandarin I thing I should go with a guide because I don't read chinese and my mandarin is basic but until now I only traveled by myself, I mean not with a tour so not sure if I'll like it.
you'd be surprised how well they can understand English lol. So my only advice for traveling by yourself in mainland, especially if places you've never been to, definitely get a tour guide. There are tons of people up there that tries to scam you. Other than that, Xi'An is a place I'd definitely visit again sometime in the future. Like Japan, a week up there is not enough, considering it housed 3 major dynasties (Qin, Han and Tang at the very least). Underneath that city contains thousands of years worth of relics. I believe the tour guide once said, they aren't allowed to build many skyscrapers due to the sheer amount of relics underneath the surface.
Oh! I don't think they can't understand english. It's not my first language so If I have to say bad things it won't be in english I won't go anywhere in China without someone with me who can speak and read chinese. Yes Japan is great ! Maybe not for the same reason as you but sure I love this country. People are so nice, yummy food, beautiful shrines, good balance between Tokyo and the other cities and love the onsen . So many places and things to see. It makes me wanna return there.
do they allow u to touch the terracota? and how much is it now. i saw this on tvb, and thought it would be cool, but it seems like they have a lot of people going and tape around the scultpure.s
no they're all sealed off, if you join a tour, it's cheaper that way since you'll be hitting all the historical sites in Xi'An
