Hong Kong singer and actor Louis Cheung (張繼聰) has reached a new peak in his career in recent years. The currently broadcast TVB series, Momentary Lapse of Reason <收規華>, stars him as male lead alongside TV Queen Tavia Yeung (楊怡). The 36 year-old artiste earned several nods for his portrayal of Kam Wah, a greedy Hong Kong policeman in the 1930s. Louis shared that Kam Wah is the favorite character he has portrayed in TVB thus far. “He appears scattered and disorganized, but is full of life and loyalty. When one is faced with a dark and complex society, does the society change you, or do you change the society? Kam Wah did not let society rule him. He is a dynamic character who is able to influence others.” Speaking of Hong Kong’s current ongoing political debates, Louis hopes that love and peace will provide a solution. He expressed, “This world is not just black and white; matters are much more complex. The most direct way to change society would be to change yourself first. For instance, if you want the society to become fairer, you would have to treat the people around you fairly. Compassion is what makes up a truly civilized society. However, self-change is often the hardest to accomplish, although it is the only way to bring about true change.” In terms of raising the next generation, Louis believes freedom is important and claimed he is definitely not a “monster parent” to his son. Louis shared, “I let him make his own decisions, because the life is his! It’s normal to want your own kid to be better than others, but why bother forcing the young generation to play this game of comparison when you hate it yourself? Each person’s existence contains value, so what is the point of comparing?” Married to renowned Cantopop singer Kay Tse (謝安琪), Louis initially dealt with many negative tabloids that claimed he is not as popular as his wife. Despite being unhappy back then, Louis has cut ties with the comparison game in recent years and does not mind any criticism. He revealed, “I don’t care what the media or netizens say about me anymore. Why bother comparing myself to my own wife? Our relationship was unaffected by the reports. I actually feel lucky that I’ve had such experiences, because they help in my acting. That’s why I believe everything happens for a reason.” Creds: stheadline
I really like Louis' acting. I don't really listen to his songs so I can't say anything about his singing. However, I admire him for his personality and outlook on life.
