Ruco Chan (陳展鵬), star of this year’s upcoming anniversary drama Captain of Destiny <張保仔>, attended TVB’s 48th TVB Anniversary Series Press Conference with costars Maggie Shiu (邵美琪), Tony Hung (洪永城), Grace Chan (陳凱琳), and more, on September 9. The actor, who is busy shooting the kung fu drama Heroes of the Walled City <城寨英雄>, only stayed for photos and left the conference when interviews began.

His performance in this year’s crime drama Eye In the Sky <天眼> was critically lauded. In addition to the yet-to-air Captain of Destiny, Ruco is touted as a hot favorite to contend for TV King. Later in a phone interview, Ruco expressed that his villainous role in Eye In the Sky was a character that he has always wanted to try out. He believes that having a villain character in a story is excellent negative teaching material. He also added that as an actor, he wants to be able to continuously deliver different messages to the audience.

Ruco’s Captain of Destiny costar Tony Hung, who also worked with him in Eye In the Sky, said he supports Ruco to win Best Actor. Ruco said, “Tony and I are close. He’s worked with me the most since coming to TVB. We’ve starred in three dramas together.”

In regards to this year’s TVB awards, Ruco said, “There’s high transparency in this year’s competition. It’s great encouragement for actors.”

Captain of Destiny, a time-traveling story featuring the 19th century pirate Cheung Po Tsai, will premiere on September 21.

It just meant no one gave a performance that's worthy of it yet...

Already forgot about Eye In The Sky TBH :boblaff:

But he does villain roles quite well. I remember he started out as them so he's acting to his roots.. :shino:

ruco a very good villan..!! guess hes just got one of those faces haha

  7. Ruco is great as villian. I think actors should switch between good/evil regularly rather than be typecast into same roles all the time (Y)

Ruco was a KLF for many years and had done villain roles before so he should be just fine.

ruco looks stupid w/o glasses. lolz he looks CHEE SEEN, that's why he's always tied to these roles.

in terms of outstanding performance? well, chinese people as a whole are two faced, so they all act really well. who can't act? Sisley choi, him law, grace chan, they all can't act. remember big nose charmaine shei? she couldn't act either, now her acting is disgusting and fake as hell.

  13. ^this x10000000... i can't stand Him Law.. mr muscles overacts in every series.. Don't really like Sisley ....and Grace, well not a huge fan but prefer her over Sisley
