TVB actress Mandy Wong (黃智雯) joined the entertainment industry as one of the top five finalists in the 2007 Miss Hong Kong Pageant. Despite portraying several tough and tomboyish characters throughout her acting career, the 32-year-old described herself as a “quail” in real life. She cannot say that her journey as a celebrity has been the most successful or vibrant, only that she is not discouraged and is taking time to develop her talents. Mandy expressed, “Maybe everyone feels that my career has been lacking progress ever since taking home the Most Improved Female Artiste award in 2012. Last year, my only drama was Tiger Cubs 2 <飛虎II>, and this year it’s only been Madam Cutie on Duty <師奶Madam> and The Fixer <拆局專家>. Honestly, I don’t really mind. I’m optimistic and see this as a period to stock up. Everyone has a different fate, and not everyone receives a perfect report card. I don’t expect to achieve great heights in just one step. I already feel very lucky in terms of my acting career.” In recent years, Mandy has not only been filming TVB dramas, but also using her leisure time wisely by investing in her hobbies such as dancing and playing piano. Two months ago, she decided to devote some time to martial arts and engaged in swordplay. Although it is easier for Mandy due to her dance background, she exclaimed the practice is definitely not something to be mastered in just one day. In the future, she shared that she is interested in taking on a fighter image such as that of Zhang Ziyi’s (章子怡) character in The Grandmaster <一代宗師>, since it easily captivates viewers. Speaking of her love life, Mandy expressed, “Everything is fine and I’m quite happy. Before, like many young girls, I imagined myself getting married at the age of 25. Now I understand that I don’t really need to plan things like that. I only hope to receive new opportunities in terms of my career.” Creds: Oncc
I really like Mandy's acting and especially her outlook on this subject matter. I wish her the very best - I think she deserves more recognition.
yup, this is her best time to demand some bigger roles.. Unless TVB pull another Priscella on them again...
Took the words out of my mouth, I loved what she did in The Fixer. I don't even remember that she was in Madam Cutie on Duty, but the Fixer had a memorable role. I always thought she was next in line for the lead actress after she won Most Improved, but she slowed down a bit from lack of appearances on TV. I hope The Fixer boosts her popularity again..
Agreed, boost hers, and not the other newbies...or else you'll see Mandy going to the mainland market or some where else...
But remember, this is TVB we're talking about. So most obvious thing and most common sense thing to do... NEVER gets done... so watch Mandy get neglected and go to mainland instead
that's what happens when you are the younger actresses.... eventually Grace will feel the same as Mandy... TVB will move onto younger upcoming ones..
