Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the first spin-off film from George Lucas’ Star Wars universe, has announced its lead cast at Disney’s D23 Expo this week. The diverse cast stars English actress Felicity Jones, Mexican actor Diego Luna, Hong Kong actor Donnie Yen (甄子丹), Chinese actor Jiang Wen (姜文), and English actor Riz Ahmed. The first film of the Star Wars Anthology Series, which is created by Lucasfilm and Disney, Rogue One takes place before the events of the 1977 film Star Wars: A New Hope, and follows a rogue band of heroic fighters who attempt to steal plans of the Death Star. Details of the lead characters were not revealed, but it is rumored that Donnie Yen portrays a blind warrior. A source from Mainland China leaked that Donnie is the highest-paid actor in the cast and will receive a great amount from worldwide box office returns. Rogue One will be the first of a series of spin-off Star War films, released every few years. It is slated for a December 16, 2016 release in North America. Creds: Oncc
Donnie's always been known to the martial arts fans across the world. Jet Li made a push in Hollywood and did fairly well, but he never had much focus on his martial arts for Expendables, which was just pointless. He's likely not a sith.
There's a lot of blind star wars characters. But it does seem like everytime an asian is casted, they get to be the handicapped person
I always like that they still differentiate "Hong Kong" and China, had someone recently argue with me that they're the same country..heck no. Just because of the handover...Also interesting how it's a "mainland source" that leaked it. My theories is this movie is being backed by "China's $" not sure if you guys have noticed it but the last 2 movies I saw, Ant-Man and MI5 in the beginning screen credits, both had some type of "Chinese" production company attached to it....my theories is China's really putting their fingers in everything now.
