I restarted my laptop again. Now, it says 6.94GB usable. awesome. Is it possible to increase it to 8GB? My pc uses full 8GB of RAM.

StephyLee, I think that's normal if you have an integrated graphics (GPU, e.g. Intel HD5300, etc.). What computer/spec is it?

Then the ram is either being used by the GPU (shared memory) or the pagefile.

Everyone upgraded to Windows 10? Am I the last of the last?
5 or 6 days left for the free upgrade, correct? Anyone remember how long for the straight upgrade?

Take advantage of newer PCs with win 7 and upgrade to the free 10, but if its an older one, dont bother.
Win 8 should upgrade, because 8 isnt all that great.

Win 10 anniversary update, Cortana will be taking over, so the start menu search bar is being removed and also no more Sleep function. First Hibernate was removed and now all we'll have left is Shut Down and Restart. which i find really baka because sleep/hibernate is so useful for me

You must have some insane expensive PC with insanely high speed internet.

Understand your pain! Hang in there!

Wtf they removed Sleep and Hibernate? Is it in the power options?

I just clean installed Windows 10. But based on my previous experience, the first thing I did was uncheck all the "spying" Microsoft is doing (privacy settings) and disable Windows 10 automatic downloads and updates.

yeah i remove the privacy stuff too. And clean install will always run better because of the backend files are not held down by the previous windows.\\

About the power options so they updated the article saying it was an error by the author:

    http://www.pcworld.com/article/3093...rom-windows-10-in-the-anniversary-update.html

    The second last pointer.

a lot of spying for sure. cannot get rid of them all. one of the thing i don't like about windows 10 is u cannot choose which update to install or not install.

I deferred my updates. Then in "Choose how updates are delivered" in advanced settings, I had that checked off. And also a registry "trick". I've only cleaned installed for about a few days now so no updates so far.

ailyeric As ab289 said you must have a great PC because after 20 min I was maybe at 10% :(

ab289 Thanks dunno how long it was for you but too long for me.

I don't have a great one but It is so slow now when I start it.

I wiil do the same as written above about the privacy stuff and updates maybe it will be better.

On my laptop with Windows 10 Pro 64-Bit, with Cortana disabled...

    Sleep:
I still see "Sleep" after the Win10 anniversary update. Click on the Power icon.

    Search bar:
Just click once on the Start icon and type, the search bar will appear.

Win 10 version 2004 broke all my laptop keys - reversed all the FNs (For example F2 to rename file; but, it became FN+F2, which is to reduce the brightness of the screen).
Reverted back to 19xx - not sure if I'm ready to break everything with Win 10 version 20H2.
