Joey Meng (萬綺雯) and Johnson Lee (李思捷) generated romantic rumors after working together for the first time in TVB comedy Officer Geomancer <牛頭愛搭馬嘴>. A crew member on the set of Officer Geomancer revealed that the two were inseparable and always met each other for meals. Joey’s husband, scriptwriter Chan Sap Sam (陳十三), was reportedly very upset about the gossip and told Joey to be more considerate when she is around Johnson. On August 1, Joey, Johnson, Pal Sinn (單立文), Rosanne Lui (呂珊), and a few other friends from the industry were spotted having dinner together. The group dined and drank together for four hours. The friends bade each other farewell around midnight and left separately. Joey and Johnson, however, left together and walked for a few minutes under the rain, sharing the umbrella Johnson was holding. Johnson had his arm around Joey’s shoulders and at one point, it seemed like Johnson had kissed Joey on the lips They walked to a street corner and patiently waited for a taxi while chatting quietly. When they got in a taxi fifteen minutes later, Joey and Johnson sat further apart from each other and did not converse. On the published photos of her kissing Johnson, she hinted that the paparazzi used camera angles to make the kiss look more intimate. “I don’t need to explain this. Our friends that were there with us knew what was going on. The ones who took those photos also know the truth. This is a really old trick used in the industry.” Being in the industry for so long, Joey said she understands the setbacks of her career and said she has gone through worse times. Asked if she has explained the incident to her husband, she said on the phone, “He is sitting right by me right now. We’ve been married for over ten years. These things will not interfere with us.
