Known for their drama films, Red Cliff’s <赤壁> golden duo Tony Leung Chiu-wai (梁朝偉) and Takeshi Kaneshiro (金城武) will be taking a different acting path this Christmas. Their comedy film See You Tomorrow <摆渡人>, directed by Zhang Jiajia (张嘉佳), features Tony and Takeshi as two love “doctors”, experts in helping clients get over past breakups. Eason Chan (陳奕迅), Sandrinne Pinna (張榕容), Du Juan (杜鵑), and Lynn Hung (熊黛林) also costar. See You Tomorrow is Tony’s first collaboration with Takeshi since 2008’s Red Cliff. In regards to their comedy performances in the film, Tony said with a laugh, “There’s a lot of fireworks this time, but we followed the script, so we didn’t break our guts [from laughing].” The film will cover the story of three couples—Tony and Du Juan, Takeshi and Sandrinne, and Eason and Lynn. Tony, who stands at 1.71 m (5 ft. 7 in.) tall, had to stand on a box whenever he had scenes with the tall Du Juan, who is at 1.77 m (5 ft. 9 in.). “It’s a hassle,” said Tony with a smile. “But the crew knew what to do.” The 54-year-old actor said he hasn’t done a comedy film in many years, and is grateful for the opportunity. “It’s not any harder or easier than doing a drama film, but because it is a comedy, I get in a more relaxing mood.” Asking if he likes to make people laugh in real life, Tony said, “We all have different sides of ourselves. Sometimes we’re serious, other times we act like kids. Sometimes I like to fool around.” (In front of your wife or with friends?) “More often with friends.” See You Tomorrow opens in China on December 23, 2016. Creds: Oriental Daily
