Product Information Product Title : The Heavenly Kings (DTS Version) (Hong Kong Version) Artist Name(s) : Daniel Wu | Terence Yin | Conroy Chan Release Date : July 21, 2006 Language :Cantonese Subtitle : Simplified Chinese, English, Traditional Chinese Duration : 83 Minutes Rating : III Publisher : CN Entertainment Ltd. Hong Kong heartthrob Daniel Wu formed a boy band named Alive with his friends Terence Yin, Andrew Lin, and Conroy Chan in early 2005, claiming that they wanted "to have some fun and make some music together". The released their songs on their official site, after being outraged to discover their first single was being illegally circulated on the Internet. They then started to do live shows - but of course they were far better actors than singers. To everybody's surprise, the whole scheme of Alive was just a joke! The four boys unveil how they fooled the local media and unwitting fans in The Heavenly Kings. The sole purpose of creating the band was to make this "mockumentary", which offers both amusement and sharp criticism of the absurdities of Hong Kong's media industry. The film is interspersed with interviews from big stars such as Jacky Cheung, Paul Wong (from the band Beyond), Miriam Yeung, Candy Lo, and Nicholas Tse, who share their experiences in the Hong Kong entertainment industry. Their words are interwoven with the fictitious narrative of the band's quest for stardom. Much as Alive blur their image between real music group and fabricated band, The Heavenly Kings also mixes documentary with story-telling to articulate, in a cynical manner, the unhealthy environment of Hong Kong's obsession with fame. The blurring of fiction and reality, which carries on to the very end of the film, is indeed as much entertaining as inspiring. Release by TLF
this is uber wikid!! its freaking hilrious, it definitly worth dking, its even woprth buying actually!!
This is NOT a movie. It's a documentary...big difference. I thought it was pretty good it shows you the process of being a pop singer in Hong Kong and goes behind the scenes of The Hong Kong music business, reveals many secrets too.. i didnt know HK singers had "professional fans" -lol they are people that are paid by the music company to come to the shows and cheer for that particular artist. Also alot of Guest Commentary by real musicians in Hong Kong.... a bit controversial of a documentary if you ask me...it's a good watch.
This felt like a "mocu-mentry" like a fake documentary - some parts seem too much of a coincidence and it did feel somewhat scripted... But it was really good actually, very fascinating and definately worth a watch
Was anyone here able to get the subtitles to this movie to work? I tried opening them on DivX subtitle displayer, but it says the format is unsupported. :( When I tried opening the subs on wordpad, all I got were a bunch of #'s and codes. Does this mean something went wrong during the downloading process?
^ try playing it with VLC Media player, the subs then can be turned on under the video option if its not there it means it hasnt been detected then go on preferences and expand the video content and open the sub file then try again
For VLC media player... what I did was I went to File>Open File>Browse... I loaded the movie & then I checked the "Subtitle Options" box and clicked on "Settings". This is what I usually do when I want to load in subs using VLC, but while the movie was playing, the subs still weren't visible. As for what you requested, how do I "expand the video content"? I clicked on preferences but I did not see that option.
Make sure u turned on the subs track under the video category (it the category with options such as video track, full screen, zoom, deinterlace, etc) on the main menu, if not there the sub file has not been auto detected
lol I thought the movie was quite amusing. My favorite parts: When Tony Ho (choreographer) asked the boys to show him the way they dance at clubs/rave parties. lol Daniel looked like he was doing kungfu, Andrew was snapping his fingers?? -lol Terence was throwing his arms everywhere and taking big steps... that scene was so hilarious!! I'm thinking Conroy probably couldn't hold his laugh which was why he had to step away from the camera. -rotfl & the stylish David Lee was not a convincing stylist at all. What kind of stylist wears a pink blouse with tan loafers?? He's not even fashionable.. maybe that's why his "winter collection" was outrageously stupid. They turned out looking like Cowboys/Native Americans... And the African tropical forest look... LOL they looked like 4 tree giants... kinda reminded me of LOTR... hahah can't believe the stylist wanted them to get on the stage like that. lmao Oh yeah, and the nick names that the stylist called them... "Dan Dan" (Daniel) and "Wei Wei"... (Terence) -rotfl Apart from that, I thought they did a fair job with giving us an insight to the entertainment and media industry. Celebrities must be really stressed with all the things that are scrutinised and magnified. Some of the controversial issues the film/documentary highlighted appear in other industries too, for example misleading marketing, people doing things that they don't necessarily wanna do because it's not in their nature or personality, but being in the given circumstances they don’t really have a choice. I thought they should have elaborated a bit more on the issues that go on in the music industry rather than concentrating so much on the controversy b/t the group members... but other than that, it was pretty entertaining.
this is the best movie documentary and somehow some parts in the movies was slightly sad. this is worth downloading even if your not a fan of them but it just a big hit. DOWNLAOD IT NOW before FEARS comes..
