Bosco Wong (黃宗澤) has confirmed that he will not be renewing his TVB contract once it expires this year, ending his 17-year relationship with the Hong Kong broadcaster.
Rumors of Bosco leaving his mother station have been circulating around since last year, but Bosco never bothered to clarify them, explaining that his contract is a “trade secret.”
But with Bosco’s current TVB drama Two Steps from Heaven <幕後玩家> nearing its series finale, Bosco has decided that it is finally time to share his future plans for his career.
A magazine reported today that Bosco has admitted to leaving TVB this year. He reportedly said he intends to sign with Shaw Brothers, TVB’s sister company, after his current management contract expires in late December.
Bosco said TVB is his mother station, and was the first company to offer him a job. He wants to maintain his good relationship with TVB, but also does not want to be tied down to a certain career path. Although no longer agency and artist, Bosco said he will continue to film TVB dramas in the future.
In 2017, Bosco will start shooting TVB’s 50th anniversary drama Heart and Greed <溏心風暴3>. He will then start shooting Shaw Brothers’ web drama, SDU: Final Battle <飛虎極戰>.
