Huo Qifa (Richie Jen) is a successful investment banker who is engaged to marry Rachel (Kate Tsui), a thoroughly modern woman who teaches pole dancing for fitness at a health club. Huo is worried that his very traditional parents won't approve of Rachel, so he hires Liu Zao (Fan Bingbing), a recent college graduate looking for work, to pose as his girlfriend. Huo's idea is for Liu to act as forward and offensive as possible, so when he springs Rachel on them, she'll seem a great relief in comparison. However, when Huo introduces Liu to his father (Yuen Wah) and mother (Yang Zhiying), they're delighted by her charm, and Huo's folks reap the benefits of Liu's advice on spicing up their marriage. Liu also brings along her landlord Alex (Ian Powers) as a traveling companion, and he finds himself the object of not-unwanted attention from Huo's sister (Liu Yi) as well as her boyfriend (You Hang). As Hou's family falls for Liu, he finds himself following suit, which makes matters all the more sticky when Rachel drops by.
