Hing opened his own auto shop in Wanchai when he was seventeen. He was a man who liked to fight against injustice, and therefore befriended with all sorts of people, including triad members. Hing became famous in the area; many shops, clubs and restaurants came to Hing for protection against harassment from the triads. A mob in Wanchai wanted to make a drug deal in one of the restaurants protected by Hing, but Hing refused to cooperate, and expelled the mob out of Wanchai.
