    There must be a place reserved for Sam Hui in Hong Kong's collective memory of the 80s. One of the greatest things about films by Sam Hui, and also his just-as-famous brothers Michael and Ricky Hui, is a strong yet subtle class consciousness. Sam Hui's role in Tsui Hark's Working Class, as well as The Lotus' soundtrack contributions (with lyrics subtitled), give us an invaluable glimpse into what life was like for the un-rich of Hong Kong's boom years. The satirical yet compassionate portrayals of working class life in Hong Kong touched the masses and thus explained for the film's popularity when it was released in 1985. The film also stars the gorgeous actress Joey Wang as the daughter of a noodle factory owner. Three new joiners to the factory, played by Sam Hui, Tsui Hark, and Teddy Robin, almost become the victims of the factory's corrupted middle-management...
