When news of the modern version first leaked back in October 2006, the Chinese title for the slated production was 我的野蠻新抱 (”Ngoh Dik Yeah Man Sun Po” - translated as My Barbaric Daughter-in-Law). Going from this title, the roles of Myolie Wu and Liza Wang were going to be reversed. Myolie was going to be the “barbaric” one that Liza was going to have to put up with because she’s her daughter-in-law. The reversal of roles also fits more appropriately with modern times. Daughter-in-laws are no longer worried about pleasing their mother-in-laws as much as before and in some cases, the mother-in-law has to follow the wishes of her daughter-in-law! It would be very refreshing to see Myolie be outrageous and mean and Liza be the one who is suffering!! After seeing all the preview clips. i find this series is very exaggerated yet it is not funny. They try to use a lot of english to sound really high class, yet it seems it is over the top way too far. There are more arguments than actual pace of events. The only thing about this is more glamorous clothing and backgrounds.
i think it looks boring because there arent any music being played in the background. Background music can set the tone of whatever you are watching, whether scary, romantic or drama scene. I think I'm going to like it though cuz it looks like its also about fashion.
hmm the previews does not make this series look good :| its very dissapointing since I 've been anticipating this sequel for a while T_T . Maybe its the fact that the previews are all chopped up..hopefully I'll enjoy the series more . go boscolie!
Yeah it reminds me of the devil wears prada espescially when they do like the nylons its just like devil wears prada and the way they dressed her its like almost identical
