The Miss Chinese International Pageant 2017 champions—winner Stitch Yu (余思霆), first runner-up Serene Lim (林宣妤), second runner-up Crystal Fung (馮盈盈), and Miss Friendship Addy Li (李虹臻)—went to retrieve their crowns and prizes from the pageant’s sponsor in Hong Kong yesterday.

In addition to their crowns and scepters, the winners also accepted prize money. Stitch Yu told reporters, “The prizes were mainly health supplements, so I will share them with my family. As for the prize money, I will put it in my savings. However, I did treat the other contestants for dinner a few nights ago. I spent $5,000 yuan!” (Will you consider a career in Hong Kong?) “I am. I quite like Hong Kong.”

First runner-up Serene Lim, on the other hand, will use the prize money for family trips. The 20-year-old has a boyfriend, who went to support her during the finals. Though Serene avoided talking about him during the time, she finally opened up about him at yesterday’s press conference.

“He’s a very good person! Great personality and very funny!” Aware that netizens had been criticizing her boyfriend for looking too plain for her, Serene said, “Looks don’t matter. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” (Is he from a wealthy family?) “No. He is just a student, a regular person.”

As the night’s popular favorite, there has been talk that Serene is being courted by TVB to start her entertainment career in Hong Kong. Serene said, “I need to discuss it with my parents first. I still have half a year left before I graduate. My family are supportive, but there are many things to consider.”

Second runner-up and 2016’s Miss Hong Kong, Crystal Fung (馮盈盈), said she will share her prizes with friends and family.
