While Stephen Chow's God of Cookery will probably remain the most famous comedy about cooking in Hong Kong cinema, Wong Jing has written and produced The Lady Iron Chef to capitalize the popularity of the TVB cooking show Beautiful Cooking. Director Billy Chung, who has made Kung Fu Mahjong with Wong Jing, invites popular TVB actress Charmaine Sheh to play the female lead, Ceci. From a spoiled girl who simply can't cook, Ceci needs to acquire the skills in preparing all sorts of cuisine within a short time. The purpose of this painstaking process is, easy enough to guess, to marry a restaurant group's heir, played by singer Hacken Lee. Two veteran actresses, Bonnie Wong and Yuen Qiu (Kung Fu Hustle), well-known for their comedian talent, provide strong support to the cast. Ceci (Charmaine Sheh), born to a gangster father (Wong Jing), has the most terrible cooking skills to even turn instant noodles into something inedible. She falls in love with SK (Hacken Lee) while working as a beer girl at the restaurant owned by his mom. just saw this yesterday...it's pretty crap...charmaine and hacken have no onscreen chemistry... and the story is so stupid... wong jing hasn't made a decent comedy since the early 90's...he should just quit! and whats with him starring in his own movies? can't find enough actors? <_<
