I Not Stupid (2002) Genre: Drama/Comedy Sypnosis: "I Not Stupid" was one of 2002's biggest Singaporean box office hits. The movie, which was highly praised by Time magazine, captures the stories of the various class societies in Singapore and provides memorable situations of tears and laughter. Kok Pin, Boon Hock and Terry are classmates in EM3. In Singapore, that means that at the age of 12, the government has decided that they are not as academically inclined as their peers who have been placed in an express or normal stream. Kok Pin is creative and a born artist but his parents would rather he focus on his Math and Science. Boon Hock comes from a poor family and needs to balance school and helping out at his parents’ restaurant. Lastly, there’s Terry, a rich kid who’s been brought up to just ignore others and hasn’t been required to do anything for himself. Much misunderstanding occurs amongst the friends because Terry has been brought up to mind his own business and not stand up for his friends. Also on the ride is Tom’s friend Cheng Cai who is often misunderstood by his teacher at school and his own predicament with his single widower father. The film also reveals deep concern with the growing generational gap between the grown-ups and the younger generation. Through Tom and Cheng Cai, the film delves into juvenile delinquency as a result of this communication breakdown. Similarly, Jerry tries to get his workaholics parents to attend his singing performance and gets into trouble. Multi-faceted, insightful and highly entertaining, "I Not Stupid Too" features a large cast of talented actors and a delightful story every Singaporean can relate to. Personal Rating: 4/5 A sequel is often compared to the first film and yes indeed.. it does increases the expectations. But this sequel is just as touching and entertaining. I gave it a 4 because I think it touched on too much issues, making it harder to digest compared to the much more focused "I Not Stupid". Btw, I'm Singaporean.. and the story kinda reflects reality.. So it really affected me. Cried for both films. For non Singaporeans, it might be harder to understand the emotions conveyed in the film. Heavy use of local slangs, singlish & dialect too.

The second movie, I Not Stupid Too (2006), CD1 complete download at 75mb. Even though the files was supposed to be ~700mb. Anyone has trouble downloading the file?
^ what was the prob? Mind elaborating? popoho: If the download stop halfway, its the website/ server issue.. try again. It says complete download, but actually its just the connection cut halfway. It happens to me occasionally too. I managed to dl until ard 200mb.. then I ran out of time so had to cancel.. was using laptop.. but Im pretty sure it can be dled.
