This was an immensely enjoyable film .The pace and story telling kept me glued to the screen, finishing it from start to the closing credits in one sitting. It left me feeling of not wanting it to finish, having been immersed in its time and place, of not wanting to let go like the Yakuza character, who by fate has found purpose and meanig. If only Hong Kong film could once in a while come up with something like this - which it does and has the potential to do.
I am very very gald that you liked it, coz I really liked it too. As you said, there aren't many movies like this one.
